about FALLING FROM THE SKY:
Surrounded by the beauty of the Slocan Valley in BC, artist Tsuneko Kokubo (Koko) dances her memories of being stranded in Japan during the Second World War. Falling From the Sky is one of a number of short films from the multi-faceted community-based project Telling the Stories of the Nikkei: The History of the Japanese-Canadian Internment in New Denver.
about ANIMAL BLESSINGS:
Animal Blessings is the story of a poet, a farmwife, her young son and a cow named Stella, all of whom find each other on the day of the animal blessings. It speaks to a time not long ago, when animals and land were regarded as sacred givers of life.
about TOXIC FOOTPRINT OF BOTTLED WATER:
A short documentary about the presence of bottled water in schools. This film showcases the success story of School District 47's removal of bottled water in the district's vending machines. A snapshot of the many social and environmental impacts associated with having bottled water in schools.

Sometimes the films we screen at the Powell River Film Festival have not been seen by Consumer Protection BC, and so have not been classified. In this situation, under BC law, you must be age 18 or older, and a member of the Friends of Film Society of Powell River.
By joining the society, you are also entitled to vote at our Annual General Meeting, receive our newsletter (if you wish) and be part of the film community in our town.
