The PRFF Adventures in Film Camp is part of the Powell River Film Festival’s Youth Festival, and is specifically designed for young filmmakers. During the day, participants attend seminars by filmmakers, and hands-on video or animation production workshops in small crews. In the evenings, students enjoy Youth oriented films and director Q&As. Accommodation is available at a local hotel and limited billeting with local Rotarians and bonded host families – meals & full supervision provided.
In the evenings, participants have the opportunity to enjoy and analyze the Youth Festival films, and socialize with media-savvy Festival attendees and mentors.
Participants leave the camp with the full experience of video production, including teamwork and troubleshooting, have a short film for their demo reel, and friendships that may well develop into further filmmaking collaborations.
The camp is fast-paced and fun, and our past participants have been thrilled with the outcome!
When is it?
The 2019 Adventures in Film Camp is part of our new Youth Festival, and runs from March 7 – 10!
Who can Participate?
The camp is open to youth from age 15 – 24, in accordance with UNESCO’s international definition of youth.

Info for Rotary Clubs
Your club might like to sponsor a youth filmmaker in the Powell River Rotary Club’s “Adventures in” program, and may use revenue raised through gaming fundraisers. Please download our application package or fill application online (below), contact the Film Festival with any questions, and see if your local high school can recommend students who would enjoy three days at film camp! In the past, participants have been sponsored by Rotary Clubs on BC’s Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland, Fraser Canyon, the Kootenays, and Alberta, as well as Rotary Exchange students… clubs farther flung (even outside Canada) are also welcome to participate!
